Is Caribou Imports still in buisness?

Post by radiopilot »

I had ordered some parts for Caribou and have yet to get any response from them even though their website was updated recently... I cancelled my order and alerted my credit card company to be safe.

Any reason for them going out of buisness except maybe the fires, they were in Laguna Hills (fire prone area).

I've not heard anything about their current business status. Sorry to hear about your problems. Check "private messages"

caribou's troubles have been well documented on all of the various forums. The story was that the owner was ill. But he still posts on Mirafiori.com under the name Ed. He used to have a user name Ed at Caribou but recently shortened it to just Ed. If you check Better Business Bureau you be surprised at the number of complaints

Not all that long ago on Mira, Ed essentially made it very clear that the business is not high on his list of priorities. Kids and family come first. I understand making family a priority, but I don't understand running a poor business because of it. He even was tossing around the idea of locking the doors and coming back in several years if I remember correctly. Anybody can take orders all day long. only the best can give you customer support and deliver. I think Ed could probably do that. sounds like he hasn't, though.

from what I understand, Ed runs half the business; taking orders and payments only.

Mark.. If you can swing it, why not take up his buisness, run it for him or buy him out... we all trust you here so there would be no reason why any of us wouldn't order from you.

I'd do it if I lived in Calif.

interesting idea. only the name has such a bad rep these days it could only be a parts purchase

Here is an email I received from Mr. Ed:

Hello Raphael

After 24 years of being a "full time" retail/mail order business, I closed Caribou just over 3 years ago. I do operate the business on a "part-time" basis from my garage at home offering shop manuals, wiring diagrams, other service literature and shock absorbers.

But I no longer carry dash kits.

I sold my remaining inventory to a couple of Fiat enthusiasts who run a parts business in Texas. I would recommend trying these folks, they are hard core Alfa and Fiat enthusiasts:
