It is , I made it myself.
Nice job Special. I'm not at that point yet, but what you charge for one (painted or unpainted) if you would consider selling it?

Fair enough. Could you explain how you did it? Do you need special metal working tools?

I'd have to see a sample Rodman.

First make a template out of the cardboard.
Then get a piece of aluminum , I used 1/8 "
Cut it to the size using your template.
Then go outside , find your air conditioning unit and when your wife is not looking cut a louvered piece out of it .

Or just get this piece from your local metal scrap yard.
Then measure the size of the opening you need to fit it in.
Cut this opening in your aluminum part .
Then drill some holes around it and rivet these two parts together.
And yes , don't forget to paint or powder coat them before you rivet them.
That's it - you are done - very simple.

Tools I used :

1.Bench Grinder
2.Drill Press
3.Angle Grinder
4.Assorted Files
5.Assorted Drill Bits
6.Sand Paper
7.Rivet Gun
8.Assorted Measuring Tools
9.Local Powder Coating Guy

I believe the proper source for the louvre sheet metal is from your NEIGHBOR's a/c system.

Thanks Special. I have 8 of the 9, no powder coating guy, yet.

I'd also have to see how it would look with the FI system.

Really like the look of the fabricated piece on the cam covers and agree it makes the engine look more modern. So we have a 2L engine with and 1800 head. Still running points as Mark pointed out. What else has been done. Porting, Valves, Pistons. Stunning engine! Really, really like the look.

It is just a rebuilt engine - all stock , nothing fancy.
I am not building a race car , it is more like a fun car.
BTW if somebody wants to make a donation for the electronic ignition - PM me for my account info

Nothing wrong with a clean well maintained stock engine. These are 30 year old cars that will occassionaly have an issue. Stock = easier to fix and the folks that designed these cars did a pretty good jobh of it. It looks like you have it set up so the plate can go on and come off with only a few mounting points. Did you fabricate a couple mounting brackets and if so where did you connect those? I've been considering something similar that incorporates the air intake on a FI car.
