wheel update?

Post by Italchic »

Image This is my '71. As you can see I have the steel wheels painted silver with the chrome center caps. I've been kicking around the idea of either painting the rims the same color as the car and adding chrome trim rings, or a gold color either with or without the trim rings. Or just leaving things as is and saving my money for mechanicals. Any opinions welcomed.

I'd leave it as well, looks really smart.
Do you have a shot of the rear? I am looking to add over riders to my car but don't know which rears to get???

Image Here is the most rearward shot I have at present, I hope it helps...and thanks to all for the input, I guess I'll leave it as it is.

Stunning car. The chrome wheel bits go well with the side body trim and the bumpers. Works for me as-is.

I have a set at the shop that I had glass beaded and powder coated. Ship accross the country and accross the line would be rather expensive I'd be thinking.
Perhaps someone parting out an older car would have something like those or if they changed to a newer style wheel.
Put it out there..

Of course I think it looks great as is too, but I think you may be used to it and wondering about different ideas...

On the old European classic cars from the 60's (the Ferrari's, Mercedes, Jags, you know the ones) we often see spoke wheels, but when they don't have the spokes, they often have a silver painted steel wheel with a spinner on it. Its an interesting classic look that I wouldn't mind seeing tried on a Fiat Spider. You already have silver painted wheels, maybe some ebay spinners would fit somehow, and easily reversed back. Just an idea is all, just throwing it out there.
