Seat interchange?

The seats in my new '78 are shot. The driver's back frame is broken in at least three places, and the tilt catches are no good on either. Anyone tried seats from a different vehicle? I've got 626 seats in my '87 B2200 Mazda, so I know how to modify and adapt. Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions?

Supposedly Honda CRX/Civic seats are almost a bolt in replacement.Miata seats also are supposed to be easy.I have seen quite a few swaps,some good and some bad.The height seems to be the big issue.

If memory serves me correct I think someone has put in Mazda Miata seat as well as Porshe seats. May have to search forum

Pics in this thread. I had CRX Si seats in my 79. IIRC, basically it was drilling and bolting new attachment points for the rear of each seat track. Again, testing my memory of a car I sold 11 years ago, but it seems to me the rear "legs" of each seat track extend about 3 inches further back than the stock seat tracks.

Mazda MX3 seats fit well. I tried a set of my buddies in my Spider. His were cloth and I want leather which they did offer. Mini Cooper seats fit nice as do Fiero seats, however I don't think they offer seats with leather in the Fiero or they were rare.
