It was in sorry shape when I got it, and then spent the next 2-3 years in a shop getting fixed up. I had the radiator replaced, new shock towers and running panels welded in, the wiring harness replaced, and the frame rails straightened, replaced the transmission, replaced the steering box, and put on a new cloth top, plus some little things.
I had gotten it back on the road and had been driving it happily for only a few months when I got rear-ended at a red light. The other driver's insurance company paid out, and I put it back into the shop.
During the six years it was in a shop, I tried to pressure the guy who was working on it, and he threatened to put it on a flatbed and drop it off in front of my city apartment building. I backed off.
I got it back last week-- YAY!
It's got new replacement bumpers now and a new (execrable) paint job. I can't remember all the things I've done to it over the years, but I'll never forget how much fun it is.
I'm hoping to make it over to the Kimball cruise-- will I find Fiat people there?
