Had a go at making my own carpet. Did it all in one piece and it took a week to tease and coerce into shape. Also cut some protective mats from the off-cuts and had the edges bound in black. Coloured some very tired and cracked door handles in black and fitted new chrome inserts. Also refreshed a horible old tan console and cap in black. I thinks it looks fairly respectable now..... Would welcome your views folks.

First and last pictures are the "before" and the middle two are the "after". Sorry, just the way I uploaded from photo library.

Re: Carpet
That looks great, Craig. Congratulations on a job well done!! Might even be able to see it up close and personal in 2013 as we're planning a family "roots" trip to the Highlands. We have a son and daughter in law living in London and a whole bunch of relatives buried in cemeteries in the Banff, Banchory and Stirling areas.
Cheers,
Bruce

Re: Carpet
I love it!
What sort of carpet is that?

I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
Re: Carpet
Believe it or not, it's a regular piece of bathroom carpet (foam backed). It's very pliable and can be put in a waning machine at 40degrees. It's very plush for a car and cost me £18 for 2x3m.... around $25 I'd say in USD.maytag wrote:I love it!

The plan was only ever ment to be a stop-gap to save some money and not have to buy a carpet from Spider-Point until next year..... I might not bother now!
Re: Carpet
Saw this on Facebook, Looks really good Chris. I'd wait til these start to show wear before buying new carpets, they look really nice.
