Going without consoles
Going without consoles
I'm creating my own carpet with Lowes Indoor/outdoor that's been recommended here by others, and I think I'm going to remove the upper and lower consoles completely. Mine are ratty and tan, and I'm trying to switch to clean and black.
These consoles are so 70's, with the ashtrays so prominent and the angular molding, plus the fact that mine are badly cracked and peeled... Yeah, I'm just going to do away with them.
I've been looking for photos of this, but haven't found much.. I suppose the old Abarth rally cars were spartan like this, but I haven't seen.
Any pointers from someone who's tried this?

Also- I'm going to remove the heater and all related components, so I won't be needing those lever controls or any of that.

Check out this post. I think this is the console free look you are going for. I still haven't seen this car in person but maybe some day I will. Scroll up when you get there.

in this thread, there's a photo from member "raze", about 1/2 way down, where he has done the same. not as neatly done as the first, but realistically: more similar to what I am doing with mine.
I'm looking for the stripped 60's interior look with mine.

Reminds me of the 1959 MGA I used to drive back in 1969. Ah, memories...
