Brake line fitting sheared off in rear brake tee

Hi All,

Good to see a forum dedicated to Fiat Spiders!

I'm doing some brake maintenance on my 77 Spider. I decided to replace the rubber line that connects the hard line to the "T" on top of the differential. The hard lines on the sides of the tee came out nice and easy, but when I tried to remove the end of the rubber hose, it sheared off. I've tried numerous things to get the broken off piece out, but it is really stuck in there.



I've had no luck sourcing this part locally and I don't see it online at Vick Auto or International.

Where can I get a replacement? Sorry if this has been covered before.

Go to the parts wanted section and make a post there. A used one will work fine.

put it in a vice with boken side up
pound a straight screwdriver into it "giving it tooth
use heat to get it real hot and push on the driver and turn with vice grips

the hosings not ruined YET so give it a try
if that fails then get a used one
ask mannona matt or fiat124fi for one

The problem is that the T fitting is aluminum and the broken off piece is steel.

I already tried putting it in my toaster over at 300F for 20 mins and then backing out the busted off piece with an EZ out. No dice. It is really stuck in there. If I get motivated today, I'll get an M6 bolt, and use my TIG welder to weld the bolt to the steel fitting. Problem is the heat required to melt the steel will probably ruin the aluminum. As it sits, it's ruined anway, so no harm in trying.

Brakes are all good now!

Next weekend it gets a fuel pump, belts, and a coolant flush and then it should be back on the road.

It's nice to have those rear calipers finally unstuck! A side perk was that I got to teach my 9 and 6 year olds how to bleed brakes.
