Re: Racing Seats
There's alot of different seats out there and some are nice and comfy, but don't look right or are just too wide for a Spider. Too high is also a common problem. I've seen a few with Scat Procar Rallys that fit nicely and looked like they belonged in the car.

Re: Racing Seats
Racing seats are fine for racing, where comfort takes a back seat to support and stability; but for road use I think you'll find them lacking in padding and too hard especially on long trips.
There are some decent aftermarket seats available, as well as some from other makes and models which can be made to fit, but often they do sit too high as mentioned earlier.
For our 124AC coupe, which gets used as a tarmac rally car where driver and co-driver sit in it all day and sometimes over 5 or 6 day events, I use the standard Fiat seat with an additional hole in the squab for the crutch strap of the harness. They are very comfortable and offer good support - especially when strapped in.

Re: Racing Seats
The modern replicas of the Abarth seats seem a good compromise for the Spider. They have a nice period look, are not too bulky, but also (depending on your girth) are quite nice to sit in.

Re: Racing Seats
I have modern Corbeau seats in mine, forget the exact model. They're too tall and definitively don't match the look of the car, but for a mountain drive or an autocross they can't be beat. They're not very comfortable for long drives though; what padding they do have is pretty stiff.
Re: Racing Seats
I am in the process of replacing my 76 stockers with Honda S2000 seats. I believe these were made by Ricarro and are leather. They offer very good side support and seem to be reasonably comfortable. After I get my project back on the road and take some road trips I will post my impressions.

Re: Racing Seats
I'm actually tempted by these for my Coupe, by the same company in Torino that makes those fixed buckets and also copies of the old 911 seats.

Re: Racing Seats
I used the Corbeau Clubman on my 81 Spider 2000. Installed Simson 5-pt belts and kept the original 3-pt belts (fed through the same slots) for everyday driving. Being anchored in this seat was the second most profound improvement next to the lowered springs. Reasonably comfortable, but the connection to the car was fantastic!

i just replaced my standard seats with those from bf torino and they're brilliant.
you can even use the old seat rails with by drilling an 8mm hole in each rail to match the holes in the seats.
i got mine direct from http://www.bielstein.com/BF-Sitze/bf-sitze.html via their ad on ebay.

Do the standard Fiat sliders bolt straight onto the seats?andyo wrote:i just replaced my standard seats with those from bf torino and they're brilliant.

Yes they do.
You need to make an extra 8mm hole in each and they fit perfectly.
Cheers,

Re: Racing Seats
Finally getting around to installing mine (the reclining Nurburgring models). The fore-aft bolt spacing is 270mm, so less than on the original sliders, as you said. Just curious if you used the original front hole, or the original back hole, to go with the new 8 mm hole you drilled. Also, did it limit the seat travel at all? I've been trying to get my head around the best way to do it, as it seems the extra screw will interfere with the little roller inside the rail.
