I have an 85 and want to replace the side mirror. The original side mirror scream 1980's. Everything I look at are power mirrors and I don't really want power mirrors. If I went with a power mirror and did not connect to power would I be able to adjust the mirror?
Thanks.

Re: Side Mirrors
Confused.
If you have an 85, you have the through the vent window glass style of side mirror, like the red car in the header above. So that means there is a hole in that glass. Are you wanting to put a replacement mirror back in that same hole? Not sure there are any alternatives for that.

Re: Side Mirrors
our mirrors screw on to the door
if you go with that style youll need to plug the hole in the glass
yes you can set a power mirror without power

when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

I was thinking of replacing the vent glass and mounting the mirror on the door.leftfield6 wrote:Confused.

I am thinking of trying the side mirror off a 1st gen Miata or Mini Cooper, or maybe even a Fiat 500. Any thoughts?

Those are not bad, but I like the concept mirros better. I have seen the california mirrors listed for sale on ebay, but they look a little small. How do the sebring mirrors mount?Kent124 wrote:I've read that some people use Vitaloni Baby Tornado mirrors.

I like these bullet type mirrors they're sharp and match the head lights, but youll need to do some grinding on the base if you mount it on a round surface.

I am hoping to go with a more updtaed look. I am about to order a pair of Miata mirrors just to see what I can do with them. They mount to the door and I suspect I would have to modify the base to fit on a spider. They all come powered, so I would need to be able to adjust the mirror without power. At some point I might attempt to connect to power. The more I look at the original mirrors, the more I do not like them. How hard is to take these off? Any ideas on what to do with the existing wings with a hole in the glass?
