Luggage on rack

Post by georgeramos »

This summer we have (so far) 2 camping trips planned. One of them is the Mirafiori Oregon event so obviously we'll be in the Spider. The problem is with 3 of us plus our small dog in the car there isnt a whole lot of room for our camping stuff. We have a few pieces of vintage luggage that I placed on the rack to check size but it seems we could get away with something much bigger as long as the shape is right. So in the spirit of invention I think I will design and build a box that we can strap to the rack. i think it needs to be slightly wider and deeper than the rack itself but not too tall so it doesnt block my rear view.

I'd like to cover it in vinyl to look like a vintage trunk or something...I will post photos of the progress.

When I had my rack, I wondered what I could put on it. Ron Luxmore has a little trailer he tows behind the spider. Looks really neat and packs the stuff he needs. Looked like some flat-bar conected to the underside of the spare tire well and shaped to come up under the bumper to the ball. There is a post here somewheres about it.
