And we're back to:
Can I replace the electronic bits in a vacuum advance FIAT distributor with the Petronix Ignitor I already have?
Thanks,
Mark

Well, the two systems are both "lobe sensing units" and each have two wires. But you could fry something in the process of learning. If the Pertronix unit gets fried, thats an expensive lesson.

back to my upgrade
i have notice that on my 1980 spider, being a auto tranny, it does not shift it gears, it possible the module is run by a vacuum line, i do have one that i have not really did any checking to see where it goes, and i am not good at explaining things here,
but if the line i see is the line to the tranny, where would it hook up to so that way the tranny is shifting normal in drive
thanks

the modulator vacuum line must go to manifold vacuum, and just as important, the detent cable HAS to be connected

thanks mark. vacuum line is not connected, now i know where it goes, does not matter where on the intake.correct?
the detent cable HAS to be connected? i assumed that it already is connected, all i did was change the intake and only cable on the previous was the throttle linkage, unless i am not understanding something
ALL IS WELL tranny shifts
