More Fog light questions

I put a 60's grille on my 71 (see "francescos facelift" thread) and realize there is NO WAY i could ever fit fog lights in the grille area and clear the open hood. So i looked at all the pics on the fog lights alternative thread and the close ups all look very similar to my situation. So the question is how does anyone add them there and still clear the hood? Can you adjust the hood bracket so it only opens it a certain distance? I like that look best and found some 3 1/2" lights that while cheap looking have a simple utilitarian look that I kinda like. I may end up mounting them below the bumpers ala Lee Putnams car.
