Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
Re: Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
Now THAT'S what I'm talking about. I like the scoops in the hood! I see your ground/cut the lip off. NICE.
So, I shouldn't get horses if I want a roadster?

I did convert my car to as close of a roadster as I could.

Did you bring the top of the back forward towards the front seat? Now that I look at it more, I can see it.
Re: Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
Yea Ken, what you have created is gorgeous. I have thought about some thing similar, perhaps made from fiberglass, removable with humps shaped like the head rests. Kind of like the piece that was on some early model Tunderbirds.
The hood scoops are really cool as well, looks like it came from Fiat that way.

Ooooo. A removable fiber glass shell. I love that idea. I can do that... hmmm... glad I created this thread.
Re: Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
Jimmy, do ya live any where near St.Louis? I have 30 years experience in fiberglass, have made every thing from Amusment park rides to Acid scrubbers for the chemical industry. I think a glass cover might be a real winner!
Re: Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
No. I'm in RI. I've done all my glass work on the side. I had friends that used to build boats and fabricate fir companies that did work for Disney. So we made some wacky stuff together. Wish I still had a stock pile of materials.
Re: Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
I may have to start looking at building a wooden plug. the hot setup would be one that could sit over the exsisting top, with out seting up so high it looks like a lump. the fantastic plastic gears are turning.
Re: Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
Yes. I was thinking the same. It would be cool if you could latch it on and off too.
Re: Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
Wow!
Nice job. The lines are so clean. I just wonder ¿Easy to open the doors?
I like so much the hood intakes.

Re: Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
That's an idea. What did you use for trim on the sides of the ridge?
Re: Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
I only used what came stock on the car. I did remove the tan panels on both sides of the back seat.
I hammered the tabs holding the top of the rear seat in place so the black bow would fit more snugly against the raised lip.
I plan on painting the rear seat black before long...
Living in Phoenix with a garage, I'll never need a top.

Re: Anyone remove roof and make a roadster?
It looks like you put something in place of the tan panels. My car has the same colors. I've swapped out my front seats for black so far from a 66'? And I have the bottom seat black but not the back. LOL. I hope to black the whole thing out inside at some point. And drive it at some point as well.
