Aftermarket Steering Wheels

Been all over the web.. seems like I'm starting to get a sense of what the deal is, but
someone check my math

Momo, 5 hole steering wheels can directly attach to late model spider hubs, which in turn
can attach to older spiders (like my 73), directly. So momo wheels are an option, but I'm
seeing some 6 hole ones on ebay. Not sure how that factors in.

Momo also makes an adapter thats a bit pricey compared to a spider salvage part, that
has a crumple cage and extends the wheel out a bit.

Once you leave the momo/nardi world, not a whole lot of info out there. Has
anyone done any other brands of steering wheels on their cars?

There are very good deals out there if you are patient and willing to look around, I paid $65 plus shipping for a brand new wood steering wheel, see the pic in the 'Conversion from Red to Beige' below... Although the wheel is not 'cherry' to match the interior cherry wood, I stained the gear shift to come close to the wheel.

I don't know about the adapter hubs for the steering wheel but maybe others with similar situations can comment.

i have seen someone take an adaptor hub and drill a complete set of other holes in it... took some patience, but he was able to do it. wish i could remember what wheel he put on, but that MIGHT be an option for you as well.

I've used the same MOMO hub with both my MOMO and my OMP steering wheels. OMP and Simoni Racing also make lengthened adapters that will fit the Spider. As for other wheel options for the Spider my brother sells Nardi and Personal. I don't know off the top of my head if the Persanal wheels have drillings consistent with the Momo but I suspect they do. I shall have to ask.

Hey Greg,
I am not sure I get it. My '81 spider has a 6 hole hub, so I am not sure how a five hole MOMO can attach to it?
The MOMO web site shows 6 hole MOMO's. Are there 5 hole versions? Are they older?
Some of the wooden Nardi's on Ebay look great, and they are 6 hole wheels that can attach to a Fiat.

Yup, they can - but not to the standard hub due to a different offset of the holes - the easiest is to buy a hub adapter like this:

- and not the 2-3xexpensive Luisi or Nardi hubs.
