Ceramic Coatings on FI Inlet Manifold

Post by adrians »

Question:

I’m looking at getting the standard inlet manifold ceramic coated on my FI Spider.

So the question is, will I have any problems with electrical conductivity ?, I know the top of the manifold and chamber have the 2 black earthing wires attached, but are the injectors earthed as well ? Will the ceramic coat block the electrical path ?

Thanks

the injectors and tps aren't grounded i can't think of anything on the manifold that needs to be but i might
be over looking a sensor i'll take a look my manifold for you and see . If you have something needing a ground
simply run a wire to the item in question and ground it in a safe location problem solved .

Okay thanks for the advice ... I thought that was the case, but I wasn't sure about the injectors !

The two black grounds attached to the rearmost outer bolts on the intake plenum are grounds for the injectors. Each black wire sheath has two ground wires inside. They must have good ground. I'm sure though that you wouldn't loose it with ceramic coating, the bolts would be screwing into bare metal.

Sorry Ron but injectors don't need to be grounded they will work in your hand if plugged in to a working
FI system .

Ron is correct. Each ground wire controls 2 injectors. Without the ground on the plenum, the injectors will not work.

It's pretty common for a valve adjustment to get buttoned up and the two injector grounds to be forgotton, the result being no pulse signal reaching the injectors. The injectors have a tiny electrical solenoid in them and anything that operates electrically needs power and ground to operate. In a way you're right Daniel, they will operate in your hand if they're plugged into the system, but the wires in the connector are carrying the ground. This is neccesary because the injector bodies are insulated from the metal by their rubber seals.
