I recently converted from my Bosh FI to dual Webers on a '80 Spider.
The throttle linkage is from a early Spider, meaning that it is now attached to the top of the driver's side cam cover.
It looks a little off, and I am hoping to get advice on customizing it to somwhere else.
I am looking to find a way to attach it somwhere underneath the carbs, away from view.
Any leads?
Thanks.

Check out this website:

There is a lot of good info there on dual carbs and there is a custom linkage walkthrough on there as well.
I don't know anything about dual carbs, but hopefully that will help.

Here's a link to some pics of my linkage for 40 IDF's. It's in a 1970 spider, with the early pedal layout.

Holy Cow! Ace, you don't screw around!
Let me start off by saying how disillusioned I have been for so many years, perusing the famed Ebay, and noticing nothing but "junk" FIATS being barted around for chump change.
Just this post, with its attached pictures, has made me re-think the status of other fellow spiders.
Really nice job!
What is the effectiveness of the crane mod you have? Is this because you're running points? Can this be of benefit to me with my '80 spider which has the newer M&M electronic ignitin? I saw it on one of the pictures and was curious.
What would I have to do, in order to get the linkage you have? Find an earlier spider with the early pedal layout you mentioned? If so, what year and what parts specifically?
Do appreciate it!

Hello Mighty 8,
Thanks for the comments . . . believe me, there are plenty of nicely restored Fiat Spiders out there. Go to some of the Fiat gatherings of your local club, and you are bound to see some good examples. Where are you, BTW?
The Crane electronic conversion replaces the points and condensor, and does an excellent job. Since you already have electronic ignition, I'm not sure what advantage there would be to use the Crane conversion, unless you are having problems with yours.
I don't think you want to switch to the early pedal assembly (too many modifications required). Doesn't yours have a cable coming from the firewall near the brake reservoir? You could attach that cable to a mounting point in the center of your carbs, as mine is, reaching down to a linkage that you attach underneath the intake manifold. Here is a link to a simpler version that is on Gary Poage's '69 spider. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v26/v ... 20linkage/
Feel free to give me a call if you want further clarification of these linkages. 805-338-1767 Cell. My linkage is fairly original, I believe, to what was installed on the Spiders sold in Europe with these IDF carbs. The linkage was part of the total package when I bought the used carbs.
good luck with your project!!
