Thanks for the heads-up. I've yet to see anyone in the States do this operation. I've checked into it in detail on turbo124.com, and I've read that it isn't too hard to get 225hp with the 16 valve head and twin IDFs. I'd love to build a 16 valve Aussie tribute car with my sleeping 124 Coupe, but I simply lack the skills to pull it off.

Just FYI, I've done a bit of work with the 16v heads. Cam covers are relatively cheap but cams themselves are not, you could easily spend the cost of one of these heads for suitable cams.

Good find nonetheless, I might have to buy one.. or ten?

16valve head finally arrived the other day, after some dramas with the seller and shipping....it took over 2 months after payment...luckily I paid with paypal...basically after listing a dispute and then raising the bar to a claim, the head finally got shipped and actually only took 1 week from Italy to Australia.

It's a VERY good thing you didn't need to file any sort of insurance claim! I understand that it is impossible to handle one of those internationally, without the cooperation of the seller.
You could EASILY have found yourself in a situation where you were forced to write-off a reasonably large investment of money and time.

FACT: An International claim MUST be initiated with the person who purchased the insurance, as their post is the insurer.

Yes, and I filed a claim at my end promptly, and received a letter from australia post (some time later)telling me that I couldn't make a claim as I wasn't the receiver of the goods

FACT: You argued with me for exactly 22 days about WHO needed to do WHAT to initiate the claim, saying that your person at your local "drop-n-ship" told you it was not you or her that needed to do anything.

I didn't argue at all... I just passed on what I was being told after many hours spent on the 'phone trying to siort the issue out

FACT: Once you agreed to actually put some effort into the issue of initiating the claim, you were non-responsive for another 37 days, at which point you reported to me that you were "very sorry" and that you had been occupied caring for a sick spouse, but that you had finally been in to see your postal dept, and had initiated the claim.

My wife was diagnosed with brain tumours, I took time off work to look after her and had no internet access at that time...and that would have made no difference anyway...I had already passed on the relevant information to you.

FACT: The window of opportunity to file a claim is within 30 days of receipt of package. I missed it by 29 days!

Well that's not what I was told by Australia post, they told me they were waiting for a completed claim form from you to continue their investigation...sounds like you never bothered to file it.

FACT: Upon measuring; the pistons were junk even before the water damage. The head is kind of so-so, requiring some welding repair work, and extensive machining.

The head wasn't new, it was always sold to you as a core suit reconditioning, with plenty of pictures, and you got the head as described. Pistons were brand new OEM manufaturer, and I question the accuracy and veracity of measurements.

File the claim and get a life.
