Auto Ricambi Radiator

Post by azygoustoyou »

Does anyone have an Auto Ricambi radiator in a 2000 spider? I need to know the height of how it sits. I have one and need to send the radiator back for alteration. I'm using a large hump hood but don't think it would really matter.
Here's pic's of how it sits. It is 1 3/4" high in the center and 2 3/4" at the top of the threads without the cap. I would think the cap would add another inch. It looks to be too high. Also is your cap in the same location as this on or is it extended inward?

Are you supposed to lower the sway bar like the one Mark sells?

That looks goofy, but you already know that, of course. I would talk to Csaba or Ramzi at Autoricambi, and ask them for advice for installation. If they are selling it for this application, I'm sure they know how they intend it to be used.

I shouldn't have to touch the sway bar. This is supposed to be custom and made to spec's.
Csaba told me to ask here to see what others say.
I told them to make it the same as the 2000 radiator. I'm in the center of the support tabs now.
What is the height of the 2000 Radiator?

My 1981 looks to be about 18.5". It's in the car so lining up with the bottom is a bit of a challenge, but I got the same height on both sides, so I'm inclined to believe I did it right.

The cap extends another 1 3/4 inch above that.

Hope that helps.

Mine measures 18" tall. How far above the frame in the front does your radiator stick up?

I measure 1.5" to the top of the radiator and 3.25" to the top of the cap.

I guess I would have enough room then. I'll have to buy the cap and put on the hood just to make sure. Thanks all. :P

I was able to get the center down to 1 1/2" by making a new bracket for the center bottom. It should be good to go now.
Thanks all for your help. :P

I've been talking with Brady quite a bit :-)
The radiator was made to be the same dimensions as a stock 2 liter one at his request. Each one of our radiators is custom made to the specs that the customer wants. If something ends up not fitting it can be modified by the manufacturer.

Here is a pic of where it sits now. The only reason it looks tall is because it is silver. If you look at a 2000 car, the radiator sits a little higher. This radiator is only 18" tall. (1/2" shorter) I made the bracket at the bottom to take it down another 1/2". That's all you would want to put it or it will be showing an vulnerable from the bottom. On the 2000 radiator you can't see the fins near the top like you do on this one either.
