Driver's Side Shock Drilling

Post by opus10583 »

Hi,

I've done my best to review the threads about bumper shock collapsing, I really have:

But, I haven't yet found a description of how to drill and drain the rear driver's side shock in situ, ie short of draining and removing the fuel tank.

Anyone?

"...Bueller?"

Thanks,
Mark

Just get under the car and look, it becomes very obvious once under there. Just drill up through the larger diameter part of the shock and watch for the burst of oil/gas when you puncture the chamber.

Agreed...the tank is not a issue when collapsing the shock. It only comes into play when trying to remove the entire bumper mount.Seriously..do wear some eye protection and keep your mouth closed, when drilling the shock! I was one of the first to collapse the bumper shocks and I did neither.I had fluid in every orifice  Learn from the mistakes of us dummies!!

Hi guys,

Thanks,and too funny!

I did have what I thought was a good look at the LR of a Spider under restoration up on a lift... Remember being perplexed. Perhaps another look. I really want to do this.

Thanks again,
Mark
