Looking around for chrome ideas for a bumper I'm acquiring. I don't have the $$ to chrome it for real. I would like to fake it for now and then do it later if I can afford it.

Jim,

Are you asking if this would work for you? Yes it would and last till your ready to spend the money. But only if you do some prep work.
1st have them media or sand blasted.
2st prep the back side with a rust inhibitor. Than spray paint the front. Allow to dry than apply the chome mylar

if you just want to go real cheep ! Just sand smooth really goog. Make sure all pitting is gone.

My tail lights are still holding up great.! Daily driver rain or shine

cool. by mylar, do you mean sticky back vinyl? Like the kind in rolls at a sign shop? Or like the stuff they wrap baskets in?

1st i would try to take the bumbes off the car. It would be a world easier.once you have the metal preped. Take 2 people. The mylar comes in a roll. You could cut it as long as the bumper is wide. Than wrap it and put the seem on the back side. And over lap about a inch. Than you would either use clear finger nail polish to cover the seems and the ends. Or you could try the clear spray paint. But i would try that on a test piece 1st. I have never did that. Sounds like a good idea

Can you shoot us a link to the material that you use. That way we know we are dealing with the same product? I'd hate to get a cheaper version or something that didn't work as well. Thanks!
