headlight rock guards?

Post by deacon »

As part of the "retro" look I am going for on the 78, I want to put the old fashioned wire mesh stone guards on the headlights. I have seen one or two things on ebay from time to time, but has anyone seen or found a source for them? Thanks.

Hi,

Are you still here? Can you share any insight in getting these guards installed?

Thanks,
Mark

I scraped the the stock clips. I bought fuel line. Cut it from end to end to fit over the edge of the rock guards than cut to fit and super glued the ends together. Than took the head light ring off sandwich the fuel line and rock chip guards between the head light and outer ring.

Hi,

Doesn't that wreck havoc with headlight aiming?

Thanks,
Mark

Where can you get the clear plastic ones for the spider? I had a set on my Lancia 20 years ago, but I have not been able to find any recently for my Fiat???

I didn't realize they would be so hard to find.

Maybe these: http://www.headlightarmor.com/standard- ... n-kit.aspx They have clear, yellow, blue, or smoke for $30/pair.

Or: http://www.minimania.com/web/Item/P1015/InvDetail.cfm

The last place has wire ones too http://www.minimania.com/web/Item/stone ... Detail.cfm

Better yet:

$20: http://www.rallylights.com/detail.aspx?ID=4273

Susquehanna is a great merchant, by every measure.

I'm putting these on my Bosch E-codes this weekend.

No less than Daniel Stern recommends this; what I'll do if the yellow pleases me functionally:
http://duplicolor.com/products/metalCast/

And here's the wire guards, even cheaper. great service:

Mine may be available for the shipping, if I can't get them to fit to my satisfaction.

Ciao,
Mark
