Turn signal relocation.

Post by Gr8Panoz »

Well, after a month of very impatient waiting my '81 is in my drive. Here is an unrelated topic just quickly. The replacement ignition switch from Mr. Fiat is according to both the mechanic and the locksmith the cheapest p.o.s They'd ever seen. It was a nightmare making it work properly. Alright sorry about that, to the question at hand. Later this week I'll be removing the bumpers. I already have Marks turn signals and on the site it says minor modification to the bumper hole is necessary. Can anyone give me a heads up on that mod so things will go smoothly the first try.
Thanks
Dave

you have to remove some metal on the top and bottom of the bumper shock hole. The hole needs to be made more round. The rubber grommet will cover up the gaps on the sides of the holes when you install the light body

My signal lights near the front tires are a little rusty on my 81. I was thinking about welding the holes shut and putting the little round lights on. Let me know what you come up with and take pics.

Anyone know what the little round ones are called? I'll probably have to order them before I start messing around.

Thanks Mark. I just got done removing the bumpers and actually sent you an email asking for advice before checking back here. You can ignore the email to your site. I am still curious if the brown wire is my new ground?
Thanks again.

Alright, I'm freaking out a little. the lights are installed and sort of working. With the headlights off the blinkers work fine. But with the headlights on there is no discernible flashing. If i unplug the yellow/black wire, the lights wont come on with the headlights and will still blink. But with that connection I have running lights but no signals. Help!
Thanks
