V6spider trans doghouse rebuild...
In order to accommodate the t5 world class 5-speed the sheet metal that surrounds it has to be enlarged slightly. When finished the original console will bolt back in and the stock appearance is maintained.

Re: V6spider trans doghouse rebuild...
I agree there isn't much spread between fourth and fifth... but the stock gear ratio is pretty low so that is definately a contributor to the short spread. The gear ratio on my rearend is 3:90. in the first vspider the t5 was out of an s10 truck - first gear was totally unusable. The new t5 will be out of an 88 - 93 camaro or firebird. Tougher and better ratios.baltobernie wrote:I am so jealous A Spider with a REAL fifth gear

Good work! Are you still using the heater core? I was wondering if it still fit there?

Re: V6spider trans doghouse rebuild...
Yup Brady... It fits in perfectly! I am only enlarging just slightly. The console will go back in too...
The whole premise I am going by this time around is to make it a sleeper. The engine will be contained entirely under the hood. Aside from my subtle body mods and interior mods the only way anyone will every know is by hearing it or popping the hood...the dual exhaust might give it away, but that's it...
Cheers!

Re: V6spider trans doghouse rebuild...
Totally necessary to accommodate the v6 was the complete redesign of the steering linkage. Notice that the cross-member is turned around backwards in comparison to stock. The 4.3L Chevy V6 is a rear sump engine. The TC is a front sump engine..baltobernie wrote:oooo ... rack and pinion, as well? Wow!
I even have retro-fit coil-overs too... all to accommodate the v6...

BTW I will be sandblasting soon... I can't do any more fabrication work until I do the blasting of the trunk, interior and engine compartment...
