Welcome. Check the archives on starting problems. Very common on these cars. There are several issues, all of which can be done by a home mechanic.

Oh, you mean your car was very zippy. Just like mine
When I have a hard time starting mine there are a couple things I check. The most common for my car is, if it sits for a couple of days there is no fuel in the carb. If I dump in a teaspoon full it will start right up. The next most common problem is the points gap. Mine was converted to single point before I got it. It seems to change over time but I am afraid to tighten the screw that holds the gap for fear of stripping it out. You will need a dwell meter to get it right and a timing light to set the ignition timing.

It's a white 78 with red interior. I'd love to post a pic when I figure out how to do it lol.
