1438 cams 1756 head 2l block

I have been told varying opinion's about this that this is going to improve my performance with no regrinding just the stock cams other;s saying it is because you rebuilt the head etc any other opinion's is this a good way to go to improve over all performance and I know there are two different 1438 cams with cam box mounted distributor and with out I was told also to go with out and add a 1600 not for sure total cc distributor with this combination is this do able

the head will give you about .5 compression boost on a 2l block.
