Tube Bumper Modification

Post by Mirabelli78 »

Hi all
,its been a while since I last posted. We had our first child 2 months ago, so you can say I have been busy. I started back on my 78 Project this week and am deciding what to do with the tube bumpers. I am thinking about going down to 1 tube in the front and back, mounting the bumper shocks directly to the tube. Has anyone attempting anything similar?

I would love to see some pics if so. I think the single tube would make for an interesting mounting location for some 4" driving lights as well.

Thanks for your input.

I've seen somewhere on here the pic your looking for. I also seen where they cut out the center of the bottom tube.

Indy Dave did a great job with one tube bumbers. You can also drill holes in the bottom of the shocks letting the oil/gas out than push the bumber in close to the body than put a set screw in to get them stationary. If i find a picture of daves car i will post it in the morning.or maybe he will post them.

Is the slim line original set up an option, I am going through the process now, a little jigging needed regarding brackets, but me thinks the original slim line bumber has the best look?????? this has been my experience thus far..
And Rob congrats on the bub....we have had our second in the 14th of feb....

I am trying to keep it low budget so I am leaning towards using the tubes. Congrats on the bub as well. Its life changing. I am trying to find time to wrench on the Fiat...even if its while I am cooking on the BBQ in the garage !

Cheers
