Very interesting idea.I am going to try it ,and see how it feels. The wheel position has always been a problem for me.I am worried that the wheel will be so low, that it will hit my legs!I am a little bigger than the average Fiat guy. :D

Craig - Being a XXL, I have that problem with the wheel in its normal position let alone being tilted down. However, with a 330cm MOMO steering wheel, I have no problems with leg room at all.

I know the XXL feeling. How many times have you gotten out of the car and had someone say"Can you really fit in that car"? I changed my wheel to a wood MOMO a couple years ago.It is a little smaller than the stock wheel, but I dont know the exact measurement.I am going to try lowering the angle ,using a temporary wedge and see if I like it or not.Funny,we got a X1/9 last year and I recently raised the wheel on it! That car is very uncomfortable for me to drive, but hey...it's the wifes ride.

Before I bought my first Fiat in 1972, I was in an MG dealership in Vancouver. I wanted to test drive an MGB. They didn't have one, but convinced me to try out an MG Midget. Getting into that thing was a bit of a chore - but getting out was the real challenge. I was wedged in so tightly it took 3 salesmen to pry me out. The "jaws of life" were going to be the next option!! The salesman at the Fiat dealership made the sale by putting a MOMO wheel into the car I finally bought.

On my v6 powered spider... I installed a tilt column out of 89 chevy camaro ....although upon examining the stock column seems it would be real easy to hinge the lower mount and make a plate with multiple holes for a locking pin to adjust for height. ...just a thought...

I LOVE IT.... replace the odd round head nuts and flange looking things at the rear for the wheel... longer bolts for the front with some 3/4 long steel tube spacer things.. I am so technical... brought the wheel down to what i might say for me is PERFECT... LOVE IT....it is so nice to be able to settle into the seat like i want and not have to be reaching at the wheel.... along with the michigan short shifter it has made a big difference

Interesting.. But I have a view or nugget of info... From what I understand the Italians do not drive like we do. They put their hands at the bottom (6 O'clock) of the wheel.. So what's with those two back "bolts" anyways???? How are the removed without damage? I have a later model steering column I would like to swap in because of the thicker wheel. that thin wheel really hurts my hands...

So what's with those two back "bolts" anyways???? How are the removed without damage?..... on mine there were two flange things that bent over a round headed bolt... they screw into a nut that is welded at the top of the bracket that holds the steering wheel column bracket... i spread the flanges apart with a screw driver and that allowed me to grab that bolt with a pair of channel locks and remove.once i did that the flanged piece comes of with the removal of the bolt.. i replaced with a slightly longer screw and a bigger washer.... hope that helps... nmatt

and driving on the highway i use the six o-clock method often but on the hairpin death curves at 45+ it is nice to have that wheel where it is now
