Restored with a twist pininfarina emblem

Post by AllyCat555 »

Finally after a struggle I got the old emblems off! It revamped them up so they would show well on the car:) I was looking around and new one go for 25- 50 each, so decided what the heck! If they didn't turn out we'd just have to pitch in some money$$, but I think what I have done to them will do for the time being :) what are your opinions on it? Did anyone attempt this before?, I would love to see your results !
Thank you - Ally

Ally... way cool!! Not sure what you did? Did you remove the resin finish from inside the face or just buff the top layer?

I made my own from scratch. I have several molds that I can pressure cast blanks in almost any color. I wanted mine to be gunmetal to match my Rota wheels and also have the option for different inlay graphics. I cast a blank then sprayed the color I wanted. I then made up the graphic out of photo paper and sealed it. Cast in some more clear resin then added a little bling sparkle and stuck on the car. Have had many compliments especially at classic car events. I also made my own Pininfarina script badges that I decided to add under the F badge just to be different. Again just to be different I made the Spider badge for the front fender.

Wow Jim! Your look great, I especially love the script badges you made, they look very sharp on the white paint :)
My technique was to remove the badges from the car,and pry off the plastic inlay. The inlay had the f mold on the underside which was just painted blue along with the red cornet pieces and silver background...so I just flipped the plastic to it's painted side and scrubbed off all of what was left of the faded paint. I used steel wool and gasoline to get the paint off. Then came the fun part:) I just got my blue and red nail polish and repainted the f and triangles, then for the silver I wanted to add individuality, so I got the clear nail polish and applied it to the areas I wanted silver, I then applied silver glitter over it. I let all the paint dry, then popped the inlay back into the silver crown rectangle thing.
