drive shaft bolts - loose again

Postby scampbel98 » Mon Oct 02, 2017 3:32 pm

My drive shaft bolts seem to keep working themselves loose - and the car doesn't get driven much.
I'm planning to grab some Grade 8 bolts, aircraft nuts and washers... any reason that shouldn't work and stay tight?

If the shaft is not assembled with each section oriented to each other the same as when it was originally balanced then it will be vibrating and working the fasteners loose. A worn hanger bearing can also cause this as will worn out fasteners or under tightened fasteners.

Is this at the guibo? They alternate facing front to back, maybe oriented incorrectly?

It's been a couple years since I did mine, and as I recall the nuts have nylon locking. Generally these are supposed to replaced after they've been removed once, so like OXFORD2004, I think you should start by replacing the nuts.
