Adding oil to Differential

Postby brackie1 » Tue Mar 06, 2018 10:49 am

So I jacket the car up so I could get under it to check oil level in the differential. Because of the sway bar that sets directly behind the rearend, I could barely get a wrench in there to loosen the bolt. Once I did get it out I couldn't get my finger in the hole to check the level. I tried to add oil to the rearend, but here again the sway bar is in the way and I made a big mess trying to add the oil. Is there some funnel or tool that works for this? I tried a small expanding funnel but it didn't work. Any advise would be appreciated.

Handheld Fluid Pump

They are SUPER cheap and available all over. Usually about $15 at a local auto store (Napa, Autozone, etc)

Or less that $8 from Walmart hahaha

A pump is also a "must" for the gear box.

Peace.

Pump or a few inches of 1/4" clear plastic tubing on the pour spout of the gear lube bottle so you can squeeze the bottle to get the fluid in.

I couldn't get my drain off so I actually siphoned out - very slowly - all the oil.

A square drive socket and breaker bar can help with getting the drain plug out.
