That is awesome!
I've been dreaming of doing this on my sedan.
The only additional thing I could wish for would be a simple wiring diagram to support the verbal description.

Thanks for the feedback, I must say that i originally did a schematic, in fact i modified my cad file to show the lights, but then as i noted in the write-up it didn't work exactly as i wanted. I then forgot to go back and do the schematic of what eventually i did. but with that reminder, here it is.

12v supply from the hot side of the courtesy light to footwell lights
unplug door switch ground path from courtesy light and connect to footwell lights
