New CNC Machined Cam Tower Covers

Postby basarabam » Mon Aug 07, 2017 1:46 pm

After years of sitting idle on my 1980 project I am starting up again. Getting another head made for it and decided I would like my own Cam Tower covers. 1 done, 1 to go. Will have it powder coated and then a fly cut across the lettering to make them shine.

I have a Tormach PCNC 1100. Also have access to several larger machines like a Flow Waterjet, 2 Manual turning lathes, several small and large CMMs for measuring and reverse engineering parts, etc.

I started a program at work where kids take a tour of our facility and can sign up for a 5 day workshop to go through the entire manufacturing process, Engineering, production, quality. The same equipment that I have in my lab is also installed in their schools. (Currently installed in 2 schools as a pilot and we are going to branch out to each school in Alabama).

Pretty sweet! are you going to match the contours of the head? Curious how you plan to seal it tight

Regardless, nice work

This is just the cam tower cover, not the cam tower so the gasket on top still fits on the tower top.

Great work but these aren't mitsubishis so you might want to change the spelling.

A valve cover that says "lampredi" or "twin cam" be cool as hell imho. But that work is beautiful. Have you done covers for any other vehicles? Love to see more.

I havent made any others, I had the piece of material just sitting in my shop so thought I would do something with it. Nice thing about these is the material only needs to be 1" thick.

If I was making them for a Chevy 350 it would need to be 3-4" thick and that would be a ton of material to remove.

The text is easy to modify to whatever someone would want it to say. I chose spYder since 80spider is already taken here in Alabama for a plate. I am going to stick to a theme with my car.

Id like a set that said Fiat. Maybe the block logo like they used on early cars.

Are you selling them?
