Trunk carpet - Free CAD files included

Postby architect » Fri Jun 23, 2017 2:03 pm

Hey guys,

I decided to share my CAD files with the forum, regarding trunk panels. Please feel free to do what you want - they are not perfect, but fit pretty dang good. I figured its the least I could do, since you guys have contributed to most my questions...

The panels were tailored to fit my 78 with gas struts, using 1/8" plywood (to accommodate carpet staples on the backside). I used a laser plotter - so the paneling sizes were constricted to 32x18. The install turned out pretty nice, I can access the spare tire thru the middle panel, or the sides by remove a couple of fasteners. I also trashed the tail light plastic and made a continuous panel to conceal them.

I figured most people don't have access to a machine like this, but could at least use the file to trace plywood templates!

LED lights / painting the battery brackets are next

Cheers.

I'll post up a few PDFs / JPGs tomorrow - for the non-CAD users.

That looks really sharp! thanks for posting the pictures and files. I was wondering what all the extra bits were for and then noticed how you've hidden most of the struts. Do you have some pictures of your mount points?
I really like the carpeting of your battery box, that's a nice touch!

I don't have a laser cutter in my shop, but I do have a 4'x12' plotter :D

Sure I can get some photos up in the next couple of days. Sorry I'm on the road.

I wanted to conceal the struts as much as possible, which pushed my panels slight out... overall all it turned out pretty sweet! I mounted the top on the hinge plate, the lower on the wheel arch. Took a whole 10 mins... got the struts from Orileys (30lbs lifting capacity).
