5 wire wiper question

Postby mamsterla » Sun Jan 07, 2018 10:59 pm

I have a 1969 Fiat 124 with a 5-wire Marelli wiper motor. I took off the plastic cover to inspect it and noticed that some of the wires were loose.

So what I need is where the blue and blue/black wires go as well as where the black and red smaller wires from the motor housing go. If anyone has a similar unit and can check it, that would help. I suspect my motor is fine and my just need some cleaning. The gear is perfect, so once the wires are sorted (and resoldered) I may have wipers again.

You can find your answer on mirafiori site. Look at the FAQs and the articles. there is one on using other wipers that shows all the wiring. Try here: https://www.mirafiori.com/faq/content/b ... hwiper.htm

So I saw that article on Mirafiori. It details how to connect the unit to the car. It does not describe the internal wiring under the cover. So while it was informative, it did not show how to reconnect the wires that are no longer soldered.

If someone has a wiper motor and can remove the cover, I can then see where to resolder my wiring. Without a guide I do not wish to burn the motor due to shorting the wrong internal wires together.

I was going to Reply to your original post, but noticed the wire colors on your motor are different than mine, an original Fiat one. It's possible that a PO has replaced your Fiat wiper motor with one from another car, perhaps a Bosch unit which is a well-documented substituted.

Maybe an owner of a Bosch wiper motor can help with your request for a pin-out.

I am pretty sure it is an original 5 wire Marelli unit from the early cars. I got some help on a FB 124 group that answered my questions. I will clean up my motor and solder it - should be able to test this weekend.

Could you tell me what is the proper inside wiring? I have the same problem like you.
