Where did the main power go??

Postby patiodaddyo » Tue Dec 19, 2017 2:56 pm

Pulled down the fuse box and probed #3 (Blue wire) and #5 (Grey/Red wire). No power. Is there a hidden fuse or ?? between the battery and main fuse panel. No wonder the headlights don't work. I have been cleaning up both grounding wires/lugs near the headlights to make sure there are good connections. There is power to 1(A), 7(G), 8(H) so all my side markers/park lights are functioning properly when the light switch is in the park position. When the light switch is switched to "headlights" nothing happens (which makes sense because there is no power at #3 and #5!). The light switch is new.

Thanks for all suggestions!

I assume you know the side marker supply is not switched but the headlights are? The key has to be on for the headlights to work.

Thanks for the reply. Let me clarify then. No power at #3 or #5 when the headlight switch is in the on position and the key is in the run position but car not running.

Whether the engine is running or not makes no difference. Headlights operate only when the ignition switch is in the " run or start" positions. The headlight on/off switch has 3 positions, Up is off, Middle is parking lights on (this position operates with ignition switch in the off position), Down is headlights and parking lights on. Ignition switch has to be the the Run or start position for this position of the headlight switch to operate the headlights/parking lights.
