1985.5 azzurra instrument cluster circuit

Postby Nikkum » Fri Dec 08, 2017 8:10 am

I have a short on 8amp fuse 2. Instrument cluster illumination doesnt work. Circuitry behind dials fine. Small removal harness behind cluster fine. So must be in v difficult bound wires or peripheral like lights. Before randomly checking every light etc.!! Does anyone have accurate info on which things are on same circuit as instrument illumination lights on a 1985? Grateful as ever.

I'm not I have seen a separate wiring diagram for an 85.5. Do you have the wiring diagram for the 83-85? On the 84 diagram I have it looks like circuit 2 is an 8A fuse and includes the ignition switch, cigarette lighter, trunk opener relay, and (through an inline fuse) radio. I think the lights on the instrument cluster go through more than one circuit. Do part of the cluster lights work or nothing at all?

It would be good to know the history of you problems.

I think you have 2 separate issues. The 1985 owners manual shows Fuse 2 is for the Cigar lighter and the trunk electric latch. If it is blowing I would begin looking at those circuits.
The instrument cluster lights are shown to be on fuse 8.

Have you checked for voltage at the dash light dinner control???

I'll check these out tomorrow and tx. Where is the dimmer control? I have read the rheostat can be a problem but can't find it!!

Just the illumination. All the instruments work fine.

On 84 dimmer is on horizontal mounted wheel directly above window switches and between vents.

Brad Artigue was hosting a copy of my manual on his site. It is something you will want to get a hold of.
