Yes, you have to lower the steering column.

I wonder is the 1985 switch was a replacement meant for a different Fiat model, as it is brown?

So I finally was able to pull the wiring harness through space between the dash and the column mounting frame. I'm wondering when I removed the dash, if I accidentally placed these two harnesses in the wrong spot. Now I'm just trying to find a reasonably priced replacement. I really do not have $400 to spend on this right now. There is a member on here that has an 83 for sale, but it looks different than what I have and does not have the parking light switch. Anyone have any ideas, let me know.

Can you post a photo of the switch you have???
What tests have you done that convinced you that your switch is defective

I haven't really done any testing of the switch, as the wiring code seems to be different than my diagram. I know the headlight lever on the switch has been bent in the past, as it always took some fiddling to get the headlights on. I may try and jump the switch tomorrow to see if I can get the lo/hi beams, marker lights or parking lights to work.

Here is a link to the owners manual and column switch operation

https://www.mirafiori.com/forum/viewtop ... 73&t=96357

Might be of help. I think some of the cars parking light switches operate different depending if they were for Eurpoean or US market but I am not sure of that.
