Turn Signal Dash Indicator

Postby alexg2368 » Mon Feb 01, 2016 3:31 pm

I have a 1981 Spider and I have all flashers/blinkers working correctly only issue now is when I use the turn signal either left or right both my dash indicator lights flash at same time. Any ideas

That's how mine is, and to be honest I had assumed that's how it's always been.

There is only one indicator, it's two green arrows. Fiat assumed that people are intelligent enough to know in which direction they are signaling without having to look at a light on the dash.

In Massachusetts, we don't use the turn signals, because it is nobody else's damned business where we Yankees are going.

Thanks for this information I was going crazy checking all the wiring again to make sure nothing was wrong. I appreciate this information. For the Fiat owner in Ottawa, do you know if this single control dash indicator will pass safety

No problem with safety check (at least 14 years ago) I was told that if that's the way it came, and it's working, it passes. The only thing the mechanic had issue with was the wipers were streaking (I hadn't replaced them). I almost jumped over the counter when the mechanic told me he would fail me for having old wipers. I had just installed a working used motor and at least they worked. Even my foot pump squirter was functioning as it should. When I blew up, the owner of the shop got involved and after 2 minutes working on my car, came back and told me that he used some rubbing alcohol on the wipers and that they passed.
And Alex, we're all one big happy Spider family here...you can call me Dan

I've always wondered about this myself!

I guess I can take this off my things-to-troubleshoot list.

I didn't know that Jay.
When I transferred my Fiat to my name years ago, all I had to do was provide a signed receipt from the previous owner. He gave me one for $500 and that's what I paid taxes on. I guess the gov't thinks some of us would cheat them!
However my insurance did want an appraisal and they have requested a new one about every 5 years.

it was a shock to me as well at the MTO after waiting in line  Was not insurance company that requested it, it was licensing bureau  maybe just give them a call before you invest your time at an MTO office
