Heater Fan Pictorial

Remove 2 spring clips to remove the fan:

Remove small retaining clip to pop off fan blade:

Remove second clip and save small washer:

Bend back 3 tabs to dis-assemble motor:

Clean with electronics spray cleaner. Lube bushings (I used lithium grease). Re-assemble. No more squeaks! :D

doing research I have found this thread .... I have checked the switch and have power and cleaned the toggles... guessing my problem lies at the motor end... my question is this .... how does one get to that motor ... where is it ? ... 81 spider ...thanks.... Matt

Remove the center and radio consoles. The heater hangs from the bottom of the black assembly there in the middle. Use profanity to get it out - it helps.

Page 4 or 5 of that thread has pictures showing the location and removal of the fan box. Not hard to do.

Thanks for posting this Wizard124, it was a big help. Some more cleaning and then reassembling with a new heater core, valves, pipes, etc. I might leave a note/time capsule for the next person to find when this needs to be done in another 30 years.......
