Postby searya » Sat Apr 07, 2018 11:02 pm

I cannot figure out the trick to get the fuel lnjector hose off the fuel rail. It is connected with with the orginal fitting

Here is a picture of what they look like.

Does anyone that has conquered this know the trick?

The injectors were originally installed at the factory using a carefully sized hose that was simply a press fit on the fuel rail nipple. Over time the hose shrinks and wraps itself in a death grip around the barbs on the nipples. The washer/fitting on the end is just to keep the hose from being overdriven and the hose end from spreading.

The hose must be cut off the rail. Slit it lengthwise with a very sharp utility knife and push the point of the knife under the collar. Do not drive the knife too deeply or you will score the metal nipples. Once forty year old fuel line has been cut through in the center of the hose you can peel it open to the partially cut through ends.

+1, and I replaced the clamps with fuel injector style hose clamps versus the push on bells. You can position the tightening screws such that each one has a good access with a screwdriver from a particular angle. Easier to remove in the future should need be.

Thanks for the replies and the method worked great. New hoses is with regular Fuel injector clamps!
