Gearbox woes

Postby gjonsey » Sat Apr 07, 2018 5:53 pm

So I guess transmission is kinda in engine and tuning?? Either way ,I need help dismantling my gearbox. The mainshaft is supposed to removed by "flattening the tab on the mainshaft nut locking washer so that the nut may be undone and the spider pulled off the mainshaft".

Anyone understand that??

What tab is being bent?

Mainshaft nut's locking washer. The tab is on it. You will find it bent over the edge of the nut, locking it into place so that it can't rotate.
Best of luck with your project! Never been into Italian transmissions,...mine is an automatic.

Hmmm... Well I see the piece of metal and bend it back, but I can't get the nut off. Is there any special way to do it?

Btw, are there perks to being a patron?

How much torque? I had someone hold the other shaft down with a screw driver, how else can I get it to sit still?

What is the cost of patron?

If you have or can borrow an impact wrench, that might help.

Air tools! Recently invested in a 21 gallon compressor and tools, made life so much easier and spent less than 400 bucks!
