Oil pump drive gear problem

Postby mm1000 » Fri Apr 06, 2018 8:23 am

After rebuilding my 1800 engine with new rings etc and also a new oil pump, the drive gear doesn't appear to go in deep enough to turn the oil pump and the distributor won't go in all the way. Have I made a mistake or do you think the oil pump is wrong - which is my suspicion?

Do you have the old pump to compare it to?

Unfortunately not as I got someone else to do the block work, including a new oil pump. This was a few months ago now. I'll have to take it all off and do some measurements. I think the pump might be for a 1600 Spider so I wondered what the difference was?
