1438>1608: Engine mount bracket bothers

Postby dutchspiderrider » Sun Apr 30, 2017 4:22 am

Hello all,

In my step-by-step engine transplantation 1438cc >1608cc (double IDF) I encounter the following: my engine lays uneven in the bay.
Leveling out by shifting makes it worse.

I suspect a mix-up of engine mount brackets is the cause. Can anyone shed a light on this? See the pictures (I hope they are visible).

Thanks a lot!

Yes, looks like one mount is offset toward the rear, the other is not. They should both be offset toward the rear.

But is it normal the bracket on the inlet side runs obliquely (down from engine to rubber mount) and the bracket on the outlet sid runs level, both from frontal view. That would account for the engine not to be level.

Purchased some other brackets from Martin Willems (came off a 1608 engine), restored them (were a bit rusty), mounted them and hoera :D :D :D : the engine is level again...mounts do matter (and differ). Up to the next job.
