Throttle linkage after double IDF conversion (on BS 1970)

My mate and I are in the process of replacing the enging of my 124 Fiat Spider BS 1970. After some hours of hard labour we got the old engine (1438cc single Weber) out and the new engine (1608cc, double weber, waffre manifold) in. A tight fit, but we made it.

One 'little' challenge we have at the moment is the throttle linkage. In the old situation it was as posted in:

So a throttle pedal with two levers, one for the pedal end one for the hand throttle. When sliding the engine in this was squeezed in between the manifold and the firepanel (?) so no possible movement there anymore. We therefor taken off the intake manifold and the throttle pedal. Now my big question is: how to proceed?

The two carbs are operated by a single cable (motorcycle style). I've been searching in the forum and read some (partial) answers. Thing is I'd like to have some images of the set-up of possible solutions too. Can anyone help me out?

Hi all Spider enthousiasts,

After some other jobs we are still left with the puzzle to connect the double webers with a single cable to the original BS pedal.
Since the manifold for the double Webers (Abarth) is taking in more room, we need to cut the part of the end of the pedal which comes out at the engine side firewall. This leaves us with the end of a pedal with one lever and the beginning of a cable.

The pages of Ken were interesting, though didn't show the details needed. So if you transplanted a 1608cc engine into your BS to replace the 1438cc, please send a photo of the setup. Thanx!

If your not worried about authenticity, you can go with the cam cover mounted spring assembly from a later model year. The second arm will need to be cut off the pedal as it wont fit with a dual manifold setup. I had to cut and re-weld the primary arm to get the right angle behind the manifold.

Just to round this thread up:

Went for a solution with a '78 accelerator pedal, cable through the firewall towards a throttle linkage assembly mounted on the cam cover.

Had to purchase a "new" cam cover which mounting points and the throttle linkage. Both from Midwest-Bayless, because not to be found in Holland. Accelerator pedal came from the UK via e-bay. The throttle cable I had (came with the engine) was pimped (shortened, threaded, curved, etc.) and after lots of proove of concepts now goes quite smooth.

So this puzzle has been solved, also thanks to your input!
