Article is a re-hash of what has already been in the press the past week since the new 124 Spider's debut. The comments are interesting!

I agree completely with Tjarda's comments.

The car looks great and should be a lot of fun to drive. You can't expect a 2017 car to look that much like a 1968-1980's one, but I think they gave it enough styling cues to see it as Fiat 124 derivative and not just a Miata. On its own , even if there was no classic 124, its a nice looking modern roadster. With software and minor tuning, you can easily have a 200 HP plus car that still gets over 30 MPG - and no torque steer like on the modified 500 Abarth with FWD.. We should be happy that this happened--it was a real long shot IMO. I thought at some point we might get a FWD 124 Spider instead of a true RWD sports car. I hope they sell a ton of them and they have close to Miata reliability--I may want to buy a 2-3 year old one a few years from now.
