Official FIAT photos published!

Postby rdv » Wed Nov 18, 2015 9:17 am

Hi at all,
just found in the web published by the german car magazine auto-motor-sport:
http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/bilder/fiat-124-spider-comeback-des-offenen-zweisitzers-762553.html

The frontside is really similar to our old 124 Spider, realized by the LED daylight rings round the headlights:

Good luck to FIAT, that this will get a successful reincarnation of the original Fiat 124 Spider (just right 50 years after)!

Ciao,
Ralf

PS: And the US-market as the main target market will get a first limited edition in blue metallic with brown leather interior!

now i suppose we will be like the Ferrari crowd.....all the old school guys in one corner and all the rest in the other. pictures are deceptive. I will wait to see one in person before i give it a thumbs up.

could have been a lot worse--glad they incorporated a few 124 styling clues. this could end up being a hell of a sports car

I like it. It's got enough of the old Spider lines to look like a Spider, yet is new enough to use as a daily driver. My '69 is still my favorite weekend drive, but I can see this making life interesting during the week too.

what would be really cool is if someone makes some 16-17 inch Cromadora Abarth and other classic style Cromadora / Campagnola wheels for it. That would retro it out more than running the modern typical looking wheels on there that every car seems to have these days.

The problem is going to always be the positive offset with modern suspensions. It's also why newer 911s don't look quite right.

No "Pininfarina" script or the famous "f" badge is seen anywhere the new 124 Spider. :( According to Wikipedia, Pininfarina it would end its automotive production in December 2011. The last Pininfarina designed car to be produced was the Volvo C70 in June 2013.

Anyone know who is responsible for the new 124 Spider's coachwork? I'd be interested if it designed in Italy or Michigan or California (or ???) and the name of the prime designer.

Sergio Pininfarina (great engineer and designer), son of the great "Pinin" died in 2012, four years after the premature death of his son (a damned incident). Perhaps the last Concept is the Alpha "Duettottanta". (2010). Joint venture with Volvo: The last Pininfarina designed car to be produced was the Volvo C70 in June 2013.

Ciao,

Ralf,
Is the red in the picture you posted close to the color of the actual car that is for sale in Europe? That shade of red is the color I want to buy, but the red that is available in the US is just a plain old "stop sign" red.
Thanks

the red in that photo is what I'd call "Photoshop red". That image is so highly digitally manipulated, its more of a graphic art image than a real photograph. I highly doubt that you will ever see an actual car in a color that looks anything like that
