need ideas for repair of center console

Postby samakijoe » Fri Apr 14, 2017 8:30 pm

Has anyone been successful in gluing broken pieces back onto the center console?
Looks to be some kind of PVC. Will epoxy work?
Thanks

samakijoe,

I think most people end up going with either a new console (big money) or going with thin plastic covers that are glued over the original console (lower and upper). These can look really good if you take some time and attend to the details. Should be lots of threads here on how to do that.

Regular bondo will work if you are going to paint it or recover it. Permatex black plastic welder if not
Which part has broken off?

Drummond asked:

Looks like someone tried to remove it by pulling up on it before it cleared the radio box so both areas that go under the upper center console are broken.

If "Bondo" will work I will be using West System epoxy with a little glass cloth. (I tend to overbuild everything.)
In a previous life I built wooden boats for while so I have some supplies left over..

(Do a Google on a poem called, "The Deacon's Masterpiece"

(or go to: http://holyjoe.org/poetry/holmes1.htm ) Those were the good old days.......... :D
