Almost all veneers are porous and will get some bleed through, unless they are very thick, which is rare. We use Titebond 2 and lightly sand afterwards to level it out. We haven't found any way to avoid it.

My other thought is that clamping with the adhesive for 24 hrs (or even 12) is too long - I'm going to try a 1hr clamp instead. As well as thinner application of adhesive...

Finally a bit more progress on the body....

High-fill going on, the cutouts for indicators happening today. The engine bay is now prepped for final coat.

Whisper it but Sofia might be painted in a couple of weeks (I'm sure I said that months ago...)

Okay brains trust I have another question for you all. The bodyshop have managed to lose the rubbers that go on the body flange and seal the door when it's closed. Is there a generic source of these or have you ordered from places like spider-point?

(in which case is it this that I need?:

I didn't have any success with generic pinch weld profiles for under the bonnet, but f the door seals are anything like my Lancia they are similar to sections at Auto Rubber stores in Ringwood &/or Oakleigh, and potentially Clarke Rubber.
As an aside, what is the car behind yours under the clear plastic dust sheet?

I'll check on the car - not sure but most of the others in Antony's workshop are US and Holden's (apart from an old peugeot he's done a pretty good job on)....

Another beta driver by any chance?

Montecarlo.

I will look at the door seals after work tonight and try to measure, take a photo or sketch up the profile to see if it matches anything commonly available.

Sure am.
A good friend was just made a member of the committee, Angelo M.
About the only thing I manage to find time for is Castlemaine every 2 years, and even then I have only gone one day of the weekend.
Is your Delta Integrale the yellow one?
Did you lead the cars off the oval at last years event on the Sunday?

I had a look at the pinch weld profile and it is very close to the following:
http://www.clarkrubber.com.au/pvc-black ... 6-5mm.html
The "U" section is 10mm wide as per the CR profile, but the length of its two legs is approximately 12mm rather than 15mm.
The circular section is approx 15mm, but as it is very soft it is hard to tell accurately.
Hope this helps.
Will try to upload some shots in the morning.

Mine is the red one (Evo 1HF) - can't remember if I led them or not. There are a few other runs here and there you should come along to (Angelo might be due to organise one soon...now that he's on the committee)...

I popped in and found a couple of clark rubber sections to try - they all fit reasonably well and will be OK to get the gapping done for the doors. Thanks again.

Okay - I am quietly confident I've solved the burled walnut dashboard replacement issue...

From the US I got hold of cold resin glue (Joeswoodworking). Rollered on very thinly with roller, sandwiched with polystyrene between plywood panels and clamped for 24 hrs. And no sign of bleed through...
