Wow, that is nice. I see that this is an old thread from 2010 and that I even chimed in about your motor paint back in 2010. But, I have to thank wachuko for bringing it back to the top. I've never seen the final photos.

What did you do with all the wires from under the middle console? Also, I really like what you did with the transmission hump. Just simple. It looks good. Maybe I should start visualizing in a different way and forget about sourcing better looking interior parts. Did you make the seat covers, carpets and interior pannels yourself? What kind of sewing machine would one need to do that? Anyway, really nice work.

I think wachuko said it best.

I have this car listed for sale in the cars for sale section of this site, $6,500 . 360-458-8764
Thanks for the comments, but I guess they are never done, I have re painted it again since those pictures and added hood scoops. Most of the ideas I got were from other members on this site, removing the consol was one of them.
About the wire, there is enough wire under the dash to reach the moon, when I cut the excess it almost filled my garbage can and there is still wire that goes nowhere.
I did all the upholstery myself, its not hard and the library has books that tell you how to do it and you can use a good household machine, the only problem is the short neck, I use a 1953 Singer gear drive..
Thanks again for the comments.

Hey Ken great looking car. Where did you get the gas cap and did you have to modify the body to make it work?

the old gas lid was welded to the body with a hole drilled to accept the gas cap and that was about it, I got it on line through ebay, it came from Japan but that's all I can remember.

This is one of the most amazing custom jobs I have seen in my many years, and I've seen a lot! What fun to see what you have done, Ken!
I've custom built a number of cool vehicles, but I've never had the time and machinery to produce something like this Spider! Can you post a bit more about the distributor you installed, or the lack of one, if that's the case?
Interior-wise, or mechanically, your Spider causes me to drool a bit. Pardon the saliva!
Thanks for the pics!!

Do you think this car would be more desirable if it was running, I am looking in to getting the new ignition system.

so glad you are keeping it .... kinda broke my heart a little when you decided to sell ... partly because of how much work you did and partly because I did not have the money to buy it ..... never say never but don't think I am going to get rid of mine (n)ever .... but the way I drive I will most likely die in it

Glad to hear you are keeping the car.....for now. The big pitfall of customizing a car is the length of time required and how soon do you hit the wall. Mine took me 6 years of working on it daily with a month break per year and i definitely was hitting the wall at the end. I did my mechanical first when i was fresh and ambitious. I finished it 2 years ago and have done very little to it since. Hope you can get it running right. being able to just turn the key and go makes a big difference in one's attitude.
